Will my greyhounds need hours of exercise and miles of 'walkies'?
So Okay, greyhounds can run at speeds of up to 42 miles per hour - that's on the track and chasing a hare! Just remember, although they can outrun any other breed of dog in a short sprint, they tend to run out of steam pretty quickly!
Given the chance they will sleep for 20 hours a day. All they need in the way of exercise is a couple of 20-30 minute lead walks a day. But they absolutely love to run free on the beach! Some points to be careful of when letting your greyhound run free for the first time.
If you are going to let your greyhound off the lead for a good run, do it in a space that has definite bounds - to be certain that you can recall your dog or at least stop him/her running away, and in a place where there are no other animals - dogs or livestock, and no danggerouse holes in the ground (rabbit holes etc).
